| At
least half of the people who visit these pages either
don't know how to pray, don't remember how to pray or
don't know what to pray. This is very normal and in most
cases compounded by the pain your feeling. Prayer is
simply a communication tool we use to speak to God it is
addressing God in word or thought.
If you
can think it, feel it, utter it, cry it, yell it or moan
it...it's a form of prayer. Sometimes we hurt so bad we
don't know what to pray or how to pray it, in these
cases it's best to just say it the way you feel it OR
allow your soul to do the talking for you. One required
element for prayer is to get to know The One who gives
our prayers credibility. Jesus Christ.
Who is Jesus? First and
foremost, Jesus is the only begotten son of God. Some
people claim He's a great teacher, others think He's a
prophet and we at Just4Ladies hail Him as our Lord and
Savior. The resurrection of Jesus is what makes
Christianity unique. In fact the validity of
Christianity hinges on the proof of the resurrection of
Jesus. It was through His death on the cross that we
enjoy God's precious gift's of love and forgiveness.
A
successful prayer life is dependent on our acceptance,
understanding and appreciation of His death and
resurrection. The Bible says that God so loved the world
that He sacrificed His only begotten son, and whoever
believes in Him will not parish. (John 3:16) Jesus told
us that in order for our prayers to reach Our Heavenly
Father they had to go through Him. Knowing the real
Jesus and not the historical Jesus is important. Many
new Christians feel embarrassed or like they may be
viewed as fanatics if they talk about Jesus. These
feelings stem from the bad works of hypocrites. The most
important part of step two is getting to know Jesus.
There
are other parts of prayer that are important. One is the
required reading. As with anything you are learning it
is so much easier of you have a book, prayer is no
different and you have a fantastic book to help you
through and help you learn. It's called the Bible and
everything God promises us is contained within the pages
as well as the rules we humans need to follow in order
to receive those promises.
In
addition to the promises and rules there are tools to
help you deal with the bad things you are feeling and
will experience along the way. Once you have surrendered
the situation to God you are a candidate for spiritual
warfare. We know that there is good and evil in this
world, the devil will try everything to get you to give
up including depression, fear they aren't coming back,
the infamous "what if" attacks, sorrow, and when you
aren't properly prepared to deal with these attacks you
will find yourself on an emotional roller coaster ride
that will cripple you at times. In order to move through
the valleys swiftly and steadily you have to be prepared
to ward off the attacks. The Bible holds the tools.
At this
point in your journey you are seriously wondering if God
wears a watch. A few weeks or months may have passed and
you may not see visible signs of anything happening, it
may even look like things are getting worse. Trust in
God is crucial and the best way to develop trust is to
read the Bible, He never goes back on His promises.
Knowing that, it should be easier for you to ignore the
attacks and just believe that God is working the
situation out for the best. Sometimes miracles take
longer to manifest, especially if they involve another
person. Although you have surrendered your free-will to
God, the other person may not have. These things take
time and everything comes together for the good in His
perfect time.
Find a
quiet spot to pray, talk to God like He is standing in
the same room with you. More than anything He desires a
relationship with you, once you seek His face His hand
will come naturally.
